First LifePak ComboPads Drawing
The following is the first drawing of a Physio-Control ComboPad drawn by Roger Heath and William Smirles. Mr. Heath's first patent issued was for the complete combo-pad functions, including ECG monitoring, heart pacing, defibrillation, and even electrosurgical return. Heath supplied the first drawing to Physio-Control who applied that drawing to their engineering paper as shown. Later this copy was supplied to Mr. Heath. As one may see in the lower right corner Physio designated this as original drawing dated October 1984, almost 20 years ago. Physio Control has been acquired by Medtronic and is now number one supplier of defibrillators and the second largest supplier of AEDs.
